Graduate School of Planning

The Graduate School of Planning at the University of Puerto Rico, Río Piedras Campus, seeks applications for three assistant professor positions in the following areas:

1.       Strategic planning and programming of economic systems.  Corporate strategic systems, management of economic development and fiscal planning, public and private sector planning.

2.       Geographic information systems and software management.  Management of software, digital maps and remote sensing.  Coordination of the Computing Lab, offering support to ongoing course work and research.

3.       Natural resource and environmental planning.  Knowledge of the environmental and public health planning field. Knowledge of information management systems, geographic and environmental imaging, and planning and environmental regulations.

Selected candidates will teach graduate courses and workshops in their area of specialty, as well as required core courses in planning theory and methods.  They will be expected to maintain active sponsored research in their area.

A doctorate in Planning or related area is required.  Candidates must be fully bilingual (Spanish and English). Research, teaching and professional practice will be evaluated.  Joint appointments with other programs at the University of Puerto Rico will be considered.

*The University of Puerto Rico allows for the application of regulation R-070807, which permits consideration of candidates without a Doctorate when hiring for areas or skills were recruitment is particularly difficult.

This position is being advertised subject to budgetary approval.  The deadline to submit applications will be September 15, 2008.  Appointments are expected to be filled between January and August of 2009.
