Associate Director, Institute for Environmental Science and Policy
| The University of Illinois at Chicago invites applications
for the position of Associate Director, Institute for Environmental Science
and Policy (IESP). IESP is guided by an integrative model which bridges
environmental and policy-relevant scholarship in four broadly defined
thematic areas: Human-Natural Interactions, the Sustainability of the Urban
Environment, Environmental Systems Analysis and Design, and Environmental
Policy Analysis. IESP is organized within UIC’s Office of the Vice
Chancellor for Research and is supported by a dedicated internal Steering
Committee and an External Advisory Board with membership drawn from a
variety of private and institutional organizations.
The Associate Director identifies, initiates,
coordinates, and conducts research on the environment, fosters relationships
across the campus and with outside agencies to support the mission of the
Institute, develops new interdisciplinary educational programs, and assists
the Director in shaping the administrative structures and processes of the
Institute. The ideal candidate will have the ability, commitment, and
enthusiasm to provide leadership to pursue IESP’s commitment to
interdisciplinary environmental scholarship. Candidates must have a
distinguished record of achievement and appropriate administrative
experience, and evidence of leadership, interpersonal, and communication
skills. The position requires a Ph.D. or equivalent in a cognate area of

in one of the campus’s colleges or other appropriate unit.
Applications must include a description of relevant experience and interest
in the position, curriculum vitae, and at least three letters of reference.
